Lauramine Oxide (also marketed as Lauryl Dimethyl Amine Oxide, LDAO or DDAO) — CAS 1643-20-5 — is a non-ionic/cationic-character amine oxide surfactant and gentle foam booster with excellent detergency, wetting, emulsification and antistatic properties. It improves foam volume and stability, enhances viscosity and thickener compatibility, and conditions hair and skin in personal care systems. Typical grades include 30% aqueous LDAO and technical concentrates.
This product is mainly used in dishwashing detergents and industrial liquid bleaches. It has the effect of increasing and stabilizing foam, and can improve the compatibility of thickeners and the overall stability of the product. It is also used in cosmetic and personal care product formulations, particularly in hair care products as a foaming agent, fragrance ingredient, viscosity builder, stabiliser, conditioner, emulsifier, wetting agent and antistatic agent.
