1,4-Dichlorobenzene (commonly called p-DCB, p-dichlorobenzene, or paradichlorobenzene) is a chlorinated aromatic compound that appears as white, sublimable crystals with a characteristic mothball-like odour. It is practically insoluble in water and miscible with organic solvents (ethanol, ether, benzene). Industrially it is used as a fumigant, deodorant/air-freshening block ingredient, mothproofing agent, and intermediate for dyes and pesticide chemistry.
Organic synthetic raw materials, used for the synthesis of dyes (big red base GG and red base 3GL, active bright yellow and red RC) and pesticide intermediates, used as fumigation insecticides, fabric mothproofing agents, antifungal agents, and air deodorants, 65 %-70% is used to make sanitary balls, and a small amount is used in special pressure lubricants and corrosion inhibitors. This product is also used in medicine and as a solvent.
