Product Overview

Trioctyl Trimellitate (TOTM), chemical name Trioctyl trimellitate, CAS 3319-31-1, is a viscous, heat-resistant triglyceride-type trimellitate plasticizer offering the combined advantages of polyester and monomeric plasticizers: good plasticizing efficiency, excellent durability, low volatility, superior electrical properties and improved low-temperature performance. TOTM is widely used where long-term heat resistance and migration resistance are required, especially in high-temperature PVC cable and heat-resistant sheet applications.

This is a heat-resistant and durable main plasticizer, both polyester plasticizer and monomer plasticizer advantages, plasticizing efficiency and processing performance and phthalate plasticizer similar; compatibility, plasticizing performance, low temperature performance than polyester plasticizer; excellent electrical properties, but slightly worse oil resistance.

Performance Highlights & Advantages

High heat resistance & durability: Suitable for 105°C rated cables and long-life PVC applications.
Low volatility & migration: Significantly reduced plasticizer migration compared with common phthalates.
Excellent electrical properties: Preferred for insulation and wire/cable formulations.
Good low-temperature flexibility: Better low-temp performance than many polyester plasticizers.
Non-phthalate alternative: Meets market demand for non phthalate plasticizers for PVC and specialty polymers.

Typical Applications

1.It is used as a plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride products and heat-resistant cables and is applicable to a variety of plastics such as polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride copolymer, nitrocellulose, ethylcellulose butyrate, and polymethyl methacrylate. Plasticizing efficiency and processing performance are similar to those of phthalate plasticizers, and both durability and electrical properties are excellent for heat-resistant wire and cable materials, sheets, sheet gaskets, and other heat-resistant and durable products.
2.Heat-resistant and durable main plasticizer, both polyester plasticizer and monomer plasticizer advantages, compatibility, processability, low-temperature performance is also better than polyester plasticizer. Excellent electrical properties.
It is mainly used for 105℃ heat-resistant wire and cable materials and other products such as plates, sheets and gaskets that require heat resistance and durability. It is also suitable for vinyl chloride copolymer, nitrocellulose, ethylcellulose, polymethyl methacrylate and other plastics.
3. Heat-resistant and durable plasticizer for a variety of resins such as polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride copolymer, nitrocellulose, and polymethyl methacrylate. It has good performance in volatility, water extraction resistance, migration resistance, low temperature resistance and electrical properties, etc. Its durability is comparable to that of polymeric plasticizers, while its plasticizing efficiency and processing performance are similar to those of phthalate plasticizers, and it has some characteristics of both monomeric and polymeric plasticizers. It is mainly used for heat-resistant cable materials (105℃ grade), plates, sheets, gaskets and other products that require heat resistance and durability.

Packaging & Supply Information

Standard packing: 900 kg IBC, 200 kg iron drum, flexibag (FCL ~16–23 tons).
Supply capability: Stable production & export footprint — suitable for bulk purchasing and contract supply.

Safety, Storage & Handling

Storage: Store at room temperature, keep away from strong oxidizers. TOTM is stable under normal conditions but combustible if heated to decomposition.
Handling: Avoid contact with eyes/skin; use appropriate PPE and local exhaust ventilation for processing.
