1-Methoxy-2-propanol (also written 1-methoxypropan-2-ol, methoxypropanol, or methoxy-2-propanol) — common trade names include propylene glycol monomethyl ether (PGME / PM) — is a colorless, low-odor polar solvent with excellent solvency, good evaporation rate and wide formulation compatibility. It balances rapid solvency with low odor, making it a preferred solvent for coatings, photolithography, cleaners, inks and cosmetics.
PGME is a colorless clear liquid, it has a faint ether smell but no strong pungent smell, making it more widely used and safer. Propylene glycol methyl ether is an environmentally friendly organic solvent and is widely used in chemical production.
