Properties & Applications & PackagesInquiry
Properties:
Physical Properties: Cyclohexylamine is a colorless or pale yellow liquid with an ammonia-like smell. It has a relative molecular mass of 99.18, a relative density of 0.8191, a melting point of -17.7°C, and a boiling point of 134.5°C.
Solubility: Cyclohexylamine is soluble in water and miscible with common organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, heptane, benzene, etc.
Volatility: Cyclohexylamine can evaporate with steam and can absorb carbon dioxide from the air to form white crystalline carbonates.
Acid-Base Properties: Its aqueous solution is alkaline, with a pH of 10.5 for a 0.01% aqueous solution.
Toxicity and Irritation: Cyclohexylamine is irritating to the eyes and respiratory system, and skin contact can cause burns.

Applications:
Industrial Water Treatment: Cyclohexylamine is used as a corrosion inhibitor in boiler water treatment to prevent carbon dioxide corrosion and the formation of carbonates in boiler steam systems.
Rubber Industry: It is used in the production of vulcanization accelerators, especially in low-pressure boilers where cyclohexylamine can be used with condensate steam, which is not possible with other neutralizing amines.
Pesticides and Herbicides: Cyclohexylamine is used in the manufacture of herbicides, insecticides, and acaricides.
Synthetic Sweeteners: Cyclohexylamine is used in the synthesis of sweeteners, such as cyclamate.
Pharmaceutical Industry: Cyclohexylamine is an intermediate in the synthesis of certain drugs, including expectorants, analgesics, and bronchodilators.
Dye Industry: Derivatives of cyclohexylamine are used in the production of dyes and pigments.
Petroleum Industry: Cyclohexylamine is used as a drilling fluid treatment agent in the petroleum industry.
Polymers and Polymer Additives: Cyclohexylamine is used in the production of polymers and as a polymerization initiator.
