Butyl Acetate (commonly n-butyl acetate, also written as butyl ester acetic acid, butyl ethanoate, or acetic acid n-butyl ester) is a colorless, low-water-solubility liquid with an agreeable fruity odor and good solvency for many resin systems. It balances fast evaporation and solvency power, making it a preferred solvent/coalescent in coatings, paints, inks, adhesives and cleaning formulations. Typical commercial grades offer ≥99.0% purity.

Coatings industry: Butyl acetate is often used as a solvent and diluent in the coatings industry, with fast volatility and good solubility, which helps to adjust the viscosity and flowability of coatings. It can also be used as a plasticizer in coatings to improve the flexibility and durability of the coating.
Artificial leather and plastic processing: Butyl acetate is used as a solvent in the processing of artificial leather, fabrics, and plastics.

Safety & Handling
